The organization known as the Winnipeg Dental Society (WDS), is governed
by a constitution and a code of ethics.
The constitution was adopted February 9th, 1956. The code of ethics
is identical to that of the Canadian Dental Association. A

The mission statement of
the WDS is to raise the standard of dental science, practice, art
and literature, and to promote among dentists mutual improvements
and good fellowship.
The WDS consists of active, honorary and life
members. Active members are dentists
who are legally and ethically practicing their profession and who
have paid their annual dues. Honorary members
shall be elected from outside the profession, and would be someone
who has made a valuable contribution to the science or art of dentistry,
or has rendered important services to the profession. Honorary members
may also be elected from inside the profession if the society wishes
to honour a particular member. Honorary members do not hold office,
are non-voting and do not pay dues. Life
members shall be elected from active members, and shall be
exempt from all dues. Life and Honorary members shall be selected
in the following manner. They must be nominated in writing by a
